One inbox for all your chats

One inbox for all your chats

I have WhatsApp for family, Telegram for one specific group chat, Slack for work, Discord for gaming, and Signal because a friend insisted. Instagram DMs exist somewhere too. I lose messages constantly.

Beeper connects to all of these and puts every conversation in one place. Your contacts don't know you're using it. Messages still travel through WhatsApp, Telegram, whatever the original network is. Beeper just shows them together.

Setup

Download it from beeper.com or your app store. Works on Android, iOS, Mac, Windows, Linux.

You make an account, then log into each chat service one by one. WhatsApp needs a QR scan, Telegram sends a code, and so on. Fair warning: the Facebook-owned services can be annoying to connect. If the login window looks broken, try resizing it. After the first time you won't have to deal with it again.

What it costs

Free gets you 5 connected services. For most people that's enough.

$9.99/month (Beeper Plus) bumps it to 10 and adds scheduled messages, read receipt hiding, chat reminders, voice note transcription, and multiple accounts per service.

Privacy

Beeper uses on-device connections for most services. Your messages go straight from your phone to WhatsApp's servers or Telegram's servers. Beeper doesn't see the content. Worth noting because some competing apps route everything through their own backend, meaning you're trusting a third party with all your chats.

Who should bother

If you use three or more chat apps every day and you regularly miss messages because they're in whichever app you forgot to open, Beeper is worth 10 minutes of setup.

If you only juggle two apps and that works fine, skip it.

After a couple weeks

I've been running it for about two weeks now. I open one app in the morning instead of cycling through five. The search is nice too, I found an old Signal thread I'd been looking for by just typing a name. Nothing about it feels revolutionary, honestly. It just removed an annoyance I'd gotten used to.
